Canada’s Prime Minister endorses the Royal Assent!

The Royal Assent art has been a wonderful fundraising success during the month of June. All proceeds go to the LGBT programming efforts at The 519 Community Center in Toronto. The goal is to sell 100 art prints and we still have many Royal Assent art pieces to sell to make our goal. Please help our efforts by purchasing one if you can. They would make a wonderful statement of inclusiveness in an office or work place. They can also be donated to your favorite LGBT charity for a tax receipt. $519 for The519. You can order yours by contacting Akasha Art Gallery – Royal Assents are only on sale for 2 more weeks! And now for some GREAT NEWS!

Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister agreed to autograph one of the Royal Assent art pieces to help raise much-needed funding at The 519. As you may know, he is a huge supporter of equality and the rights of the LGBT community.

The Royal Assent was shipped to the Parliament buildings in Ottawa two weeks ago; after going through a security check then the Royal Assent arrived in the Prime Minister’s office for him to sign- and he did!

The signed art print is now on auction at CharityBuzz.com. Please CLICK HERE to see the auction live!

Thanks for supporting! If you like, please share this post; it will help greatly in spreading the word and supporting this worthy cause. Cheers, KL.

A NEW Queen Painting that gives back: ROYAL ASSENT

As you may know, I have been creating some art that is a modern take on Queen Elizabeth’s 1953 coronation portrait. This spring I’ve created a very special Queen portrait to be used for LGBT charitable causes.
The painting is often referred to as ‘The Rainbow Queen’ but is actually called ROYAL ASSENT. It pays tribute to the many royal assents that HM Queen Elizabeth has signed for human equality and gay marriage rights and also paying homage to Gilbert Baker who is the designer of the iconic pride flag. He designed the flag in 1978 and it has become synonymous around the world with LGBT rights. Gilbert Baker sadly passed away earlier this spring.
The rainbow colours used in the painting are exact Pantone colour matches to the ones used to design the Pride flag. Those colours are then digitally-aged 39 years; the year Gilbert Baker designed the flag. The aged/subtle colours make ROYAL ASSENT a statement without being overly garish in a home or business setting. This piece of art has been designed with 7 layers of photography, paint and digital processing, then printed on canvas and hand-finished!
The ROYAL ASSENT will be on display at the The Akasha Gallery, 511 Church Street, Toronto for the duration of Pride Month. Fine hand-finished canvas giclees are available to order from the gallery with ALL proceeds donated to The 519 Church Street Community Centre. ‘The519’ is a leader in Canada with supportive programs for the LGBT community. All the proceeds will help fund much-need programs for LGBT youth, trans and senior groups.
ROYAL ASSENT, 30” x 45” hand-finished canvas giclee, $519.
Please order your ROYAL ASSENT through The Akasha Art Gallery. This art is made to order (2-3 weeks) and pick up is from the gallery downtown Toronto or shipped anywhere (please inquire about any additional shipping costs).
Other queen paintings are on display and can also be purchased from Akasha. The Queen-Teal or Queen-Red are 36”x51” and cost $880 each. Please contact the Akasha if you would like one for your home, business or as a gift. They can be safely shipped anywhere in the world and make grand statement!

Do you know someone who just loves the queen? Perhaps there’s a large empty wall in your home or office that needs some royal colour? Thank you for your purchase consideration of the new ROYAL ASSENT; by purchasing you are supporting the LGBT communities and adding much-needed colour to your walls!
Wishing a happy and colourful Pride Month to you all! KL xo
