Candy-Cane Lane Inspired Vases

CANDY-CANE LANE INSPIRED VASES

TWELVE DAZE OF CHRISTMAS PROJECTS: #07

Christmas day is less than a week away; my time is being crunched and I seem to be getting more stressed over shopping, prepping and organizing the house for all the holiday parties and the big day ahead. I want everything to be easy… and still stylish so I’ve come up with some inspiring decor touches that you and/or your kids can have fun doing in little time and with little money.

Each day until Christmas I will post a simple & stylish holiday decor idea that can help get your home in holiday-shape over the next nine days. All projects are affordable and easy (level 1). We will celebrate day six of the ‘Twelve-Daze‘ series with a decorative vase idea that is fun and breaks all tradition! Goodbye ugly floral stems… and hello to vase idea thats visually good enough to eat!

Candy lined vases

Needed: Large and small vases of the same height (for the skinnest vase I often look for very tall, thin drinking glasses), a variety of inexpensive red and white store-bought candies, flowers or evergreen branches.

Assembly is easy: 1/ Place the skinny glass/vase into the larger vase and start arranging the candies between the two vases. 2/ Add a spot of glue or tape to the bottom of the skinny vase in order to keep it evenly centred while arraning the candies between the two layers of glass. 3/ If using jelly-soft style candies, a wooden skewer helps to direct them into perfect place. The tiny red heart candies area easiest to work with; just dump them in to fill the gap. They are also nice to use as fillers on the top if your candy arrangment ends too low from the top of the vase.

Here’s some other examples of Candy-Cane Lane inspired vases (no photos are mine):

Candy rounds look like little flowers while white/red/pink carnations are super-affordable!

Candy canes add extra dimenion to this idea- I love this one!

I hope you have fun with this one- obviously red and white are perfect for the upcoming holidays but think of this sweet trick for summer; imagine orange, lime and lemon jelly candies- with white flowers adorning a table at a springtime wedding! Now… how to sneak a candle away from the arrangement without anyone noticing… :)

I look forward to posting another simple idea tomorrow- HINT: Christmas Project for DAZE #6 will most likely be the simplest of all; see you tomorrow with another easy-breezy holi-dazed project! Enjoy! KL
