Christmas Day is less than 2 months away; my time is crunching, and I seem to be getting more stressed over shopping, prepping and organizing the house for the holiday parties and the weeks ahead.
Each week until Christmas I will post a simple, yet stylish holiday decor idea that can help get your home in holiday-shape over the next 12 days. All projects are affordable and easy (level 1-2).
Needed: 2 medium balls of wool (I used green and black), 1 small ball of contrast coloured wool (I used red), 1 x 14 inch syrofoam wreath form, stick pins, 1 decorative tree ornament, hot glue.
I wanted the look of knitting around a syrofoam wreath form but who has the time to learn how to knit at this time of the year? A much easier process was the ‘finger-knit’ process (look it up on YouTube for simple instructions) and then wrap around the syrofoam form (I secured the yarn’s beginning and ending with stick pins). Note: if you want your Knit Wreath to hang outside then use a sythetic (acryllic) type wool -another option would be to use raw twine to offer up a natural look or colourful boat rope for an off-season colour like pool blue or lime green.
At the base of the wreath form I changed up the colour and wrapped wool around the form then hot-glue gunned an ornament then tied some contrasting wool at the top in order to create a modest hanger to the wreath. I hope you give it a try. All in all, the process took about 3 hours total; 2 hours to finger knit (do this while watching television or talking on the phone) and and hour to wrap the wreath form.
Hope you enjoy!
